Dante’s Fallen Lovers

Dante’s Fallen Lovers

Central Saint Martins ‘White Show’ Project exploring the early renaissance lovers Francesca Da Rimini and Paolo Malatesta depicted in Rodin’s sculpture ‘The Kiss’. The two were murdered by Francesca’s husband/Paolo’s brother and are found in the second circle of hell in Dante’s Inferno, surrounded by fallen angels and punished by an eternal whirlwind. The eyelet detailing is inspired by a painting at The Wallace Collection of Saint Roch by Carlo Crivelli.
